I got a new PII board and having been trying to get it setup. I am using brand new drives -
    Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-1802
Western Digitial Caviar WD1200BB (120 Gig)
They are both set to cable select with the cd/dvd as device 0 and hd as device 1. This is the only way I was able to see the cd from firmware. I was able to boot the cd and format the hd, but the firmware does not see the hd. I have tried reset, but when I do that I can't see the cd/dvd or the hd. Any ideas what is going on?

    Hi Calphins,

I had similar issues with a new drive, and using the "hdwrite"
tool to clear the MBR fixed the problem, also for now you may
want to try setting up the drive as "master" on it's own IDE
    channel.

    hdwrite ide.device <unit> mossys:c/reboot

(check your docs for specifics, though :)

    Hi Calphins,

I have the same harddrive, and it works as -D- said with the harddrive as master on the primary ide channel and the CD/DVD rom drive as master on the secondary ide channel.
But with out the cable select jumper set.

I had the same problem with Peg1 board, and I got, that the problem was in the first partition, which was about 70 megs large to hold only the boot imgs and it didn't work in OF. And so I disabled this partition, changed the filesystem of the second one to FFS put there the boot.img and it worked flawlessly with boot /pci/ide/disk@0,0:1 boot.img :-)
