Hey, I would like to have CDDA support (mostly for old CD games :)) on a G5 PMAC that has installed a SB Live over PCI-X.
Should I change the drive with an old IDE one, then use a a convertor from IDE to SATA while the audio cable will be installed directly from the drive to the sound card? Will that work?

    Why that ?
If you wish to hear a audio cd, insert such cd in a cddrive and look, whats happend :)
MorphOS support audiocd and show you the table of contents. You can easy play every track
    like every other soundfile.

Old game cd's include one or more cdda tracks, so they are appear as second cd in Ambient.

To address the original question, G5 dvd drives are PATA so no adapter would be necessary. If the supplied drive lacks audio out, just swap in another PATA drive.
