Hey all together, I think my beloved Power Mac is broken. When I press the power button
the button light shines bright. No Fans come up no harddisk - nothing. I took out the
battery for 10 minutes without power cable; pressed the psu reset button. By the way the
battery shows 3,68 Volts so it seem ok. I even tried to refreh it by short circuit. It seems
to be a failure inside the mainboard because the trouble accured some days ago.
After booting my Power Mac it shut down again 10mins later without doing anything
in between. Half an hour later it worked fine. No sign of overheating or what so ever.
Today the same problem - with only one difference. The machine does nothing anymore.

every idea is more than welcome!

Could be anything from a faulty front-panel to PSU.

    Best course of action:
Buy the cheapest MDD you can find and start swapping parts.
If it turns out to be a faulty motherboard, contact the team by regristering the new one (and pointing out it's a replacement).

I have 3 spare MDD mobos, where are you based? I can spare one just for shipping cost.

    @ Kronos

it must be something rather simple, because today the machine came up with no fault at all.
I was allready searching for spare MDD.

    @ pampers

I am in northern germany, is there some sort of magnetical switch upon the mobo that switches the
hardware on and off like a relay. That would make sense to me.
Thank you for your offer ! :-)
