I myself don't like the idea to put resources to the architecture switch yet, because I'd imagine it would cause a pretty long feature freeze generally to the OS itself, and we still have life in PPC.
If new PPC support doesn't take too much from the general improvements, why not then, but otherwise I'd like to see some improvements and maturing for a while still :)
