    Hi there.

I've seen in the faq that external displays on Powerbooks are currently not supported.
Do you have an ETA of when this might be available?
Or is there a way to get this working?

External display is supported, but only VGA (no DVI) and only PB-native resolution......
    Peg2, 3xPowerMac G5, 2xPowerbookG4, 2x MacMiniG4, Efika (again), A3000T and life is never boring.....

So you would need a DVI to VGA adapter?
    What about iBooks?

Yes, then it will work in theory, but that laptop's native resolution can be quite weird for many external monitors. You might not be able to get it displayed properly... I tried my PB5,9 on one fullhd monitor once, image was otherwise ok, but was missing little from right and bottom... but I didn't use more time to try it out, so I'm not totally sure if anything could have been done.

    OK, thanks for this information.
The display in my PowerBook (5.7) is not very bright so an external display would probably help but I better wait until DVI and more screen modes are supported.
Any idea if this will be supported at all?

No idea about the support. Mine isn't too bright either, but it's still OK if you use it in full brightness. I guess you know that you can adjust the brightness in MorphOS with (fn) F1 and F2 keys... and maybe remove automatic brightness control from laptop settings.

It works just fine in a single screen mode. Connect monitor, turn powerbook on and close the lid while it starts. I found that when i bought a powerbook with a broken matrix.

Are you going to implement multiple resolutions for the external output?

Great stuff, this works. It's even possible to choose the native resolution of the external display (full HD).

According to this resource, "The maximum resolution supported on an external display is 2560x1600 at millions of colors" on latest PB 5.9 (A1139). It would be nice to have second display with this resolution.

    hi,

how can I disable that the powerbook shuts down, when the lid is closed?
Now I have to have the lid a little bit open to prevent a shutdown after some minutes, would be nice if I could close it completly!

Nothing to disable. It if shuts down, it means it overheats. Keeping the lid closed seriously impairs the cooling so if your fans aren't in a good shape or the thermal grease under the cpu/mb/gfx is rusty, such things are bound to happen. MorphOS, sadly, produces more heat than OS X running on the same machine.

Because the Radeon chipset always runs in full speed.

In noticed that when the lid is closed and my PowerBook is on battery, it will shut down after a few minutes.
When it is plugged on the power supply it won't.

Could it produced more heat because of the battery usage?

A (dis)charging battery will produce additional heat, so yeah that makes sense.

And I guess it doesn't in MacOS. Is this something MorphOS can fix?

As soon as our resident shaman figures out how ;)

Still, this is not really a problem if your PowerBook's cooling is functioning OK.
