    Hello!

    I 've installed a NEC PCI 2.0 USB card to my PMAC G4 3.1 (I am running MorphOS 3.6) for the first time.

    The device is recognized properly under prefs/usb/devices.

    The card has 4 ports on the back and 1 internal port (I am making use only of the 4 outside).

    I am experiencing a similar issue that is described here.

    I have 2 usb sticks, 1 is 16GB formatted as NTFS and the other 4GB as FAT. Copying small files (<15MB) individually seems to work on the FAT but while copying large files (>150MB) I get usb drops (complains about NAK timeout). I have ticked/unticked all available options on settings (prefs/usb) but none seems to resolve the issue. The NTFS stick stops on the beginning (buffering) under both occasions (small or big files).

    Both sticks work normally if connected on the onboard 1.1 usb (but the transfer rate is just ~900kb/s as you would have thought).

    Both sticks are connected directly on the card.

    All other devices (mouse/keyboard/joystick) work fine when connected to the card.

    Any thoughts?

    What chip is your card equipped with?
    See these pics. The NEC USB card on them is reported as work perfectly under MorphOS 1.4.5 and 2.x

    I miss draggable screens... and do you? I know I'm in a minority unfortunately.

    ... I honestly bought that PCI generic NEC 2.0 USB card for next to nothing, and the issue I had on my MDD mac was that it would actually copy with errors... After changing out for a Belkin NEC 2.0 USB card, everything was copying great...

    @r-tea

    Yes, this is the one I have :(

    @Doffo

    I did a search on eBay but couldn't locate one. Can you please point me one so I can purchase it?

    @all

    To my understanding, it has to be the controller/card causing the drop outs since the sticks work both under the onboard 1.1., right?

    I found many on ebay, just did a search for "belkin usb card"

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Belkin-Hi-Speed-USB-2-0-5-Port-PCI-Card-F5U220-/251585475183?pt=US_Internal_Port_Expansion_Cards&hash=item3a93a9b26f

    that is one that seems reasonable, and you can tell its a NEC chipset cause of course the stamp on the actual chip. :)

    I have a few versions of them and both work great.

    http://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B0012KUW5U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#productDetails

    works perfectly and has the same look as the pictures posted in the thread,
    but with a different nec chip number

    I have both of the cards mentioned here into my Pegasos2.

    The Belkin works almost perfectly, only a few devices are not working properly (typically bad noname devices might fail during big copies).
    The other one is not that good, more devices are not working with it but with devices of good quality its works well too.
    With the internal USB of the Pegasos2 all the devices are working like a charm even the more crappy ones.

    The (used) Belkin card arrived from the US yesterday and I was eager to test it.
    Replaced the generic NEC and the system either wouldn't boot at all (black screen) or it would halt at the grey screen (both attempts without any usb device attached to it) for the most part (see bellow).
    Changed the PCI slot, removed other cards but the result remained the same.
    It did happen to boot once or twice to Ambient though but the card was not recognized at all at prefs/usb/devices and it did not powered any device that I connected to it (joystick, usb sticks etc).
    Seems I am back at zero ground regarding USB 2.0 on the PMAC and I will have to order to confirmed working NEC 2.0 from a fellow friend as a last resort... :(
