    I am trying to get my printer to work with MorphOS. It works, but it's super slow. It's PCL/PS compatible.

    To print a single page from OWB take at least two minutes. What gives? It's an HP1320. I set it up with the HP LJ4 setting under printer preferences with usbparallel.device unit 0. Maybe it's spoolng to postscript. I don't know why it takes so long. Printing a PDF file takes about 10 minutes!!

    Any tips on how to get printing times reduced?

    I also noticed that in T: i do not see any spooled files.

    This is my postscript commandline:
    Ghostscript:bin/GS -sDEVICE=turboprint -q
    T: <--temp files

    I even tried installing ghostscript from Grunch...

    argh

    Do you try to print as PostScript (selected in VPDF for example) or with TurboPrint/GS (postscript setting unselected in VPDF)? And to what device? Have you tried as postscript to PRT: for example, which wouldn't use GS... it might be faster if your printer supports postscript natively.

    printing a page from OWB here takes a few seconds! I use a color HP 3525 or also HP 4525 and
    I print directly via postscript. Setup Netprinter as Direct + send the jop from VPDF to this, that's all.

    I got finalwriter to print well last night I told it single page instead of continuous. I still have issues in OWB though. So, when I print to PRT: it goes to turboprint and PS: goes to GS? If I uncheck PS from VPDF it prints super fast.

    If your Printer supports Postscript you don't need to print with PS: Ghostscript.

    So, printing to PRT: from OWB is faster, but it cuts off the top of the page and only prints out one page of text, which is followed by a blank page. I just tried PS: from this page and it's cut off from Forum Index / User Forums/ Hardware on down

    You can try following:

    Notice: This will only work if you have a USB-printer installed, which can understand Postscript!

    Create a text-file named "PRTN" with following content:

    StackSize = 4096
    Priority = 5
    GlobVec = -1
    Handler = MOSSYS:L/port-handler
    Startup = "DEVICE=usbparallel.device UNIT=0 TYPE=printer"
    #

    Save this file to DEVS:Dosdrivers

    This will mount a logical device named PRTN (after next reboot).

    Now try to print from eg. VPDF directly to PRTN: (instead of PRT: or PS: )

    I hope that will work with your config - maybe you have to change USB-Unitnumber. I have'nt ever tried this with USB, only with NET-Printers - and there it works perfectly....
