I have a nice G4 with 1.8ghz sonnet and all the goodies I could put in it so far ... would I benefit from a faster Radeon ? Or should I go for the G5 ? Is there already software that makes use of the faster machines apart from video ...

At least for MorphOS 3.2, you could loose up to 512 MB RAM (currently only up to 1GB RAM is supported on a G5), and Warp3D compatiblity on R300-based gfxcards.

I don't think I ever reached the 1024Mb limit, let alone that I used the full 1536Mb .... and is this something that will be fixed with an update ? Warp3D do I use it a lot without me knowing or this just used to play wipeout and as such ?

Your system is nice, just get a 256MB 9600 pro card for it. The G5 machines have issues that I dont feel are worth putting up with. One example is the leaks the cooling systems are all suffering from.

After ignoring Pampers on some issues for years, I have learned to differ to him (let me see...how many dead graphics cards was that?).

No, I advocated the G5 port too, but its still rough.
Stick with the G4 for now.
You've already got stupid strong cpu power anyway.
    You want less memory?

If I do a higher end G5 later, it will be heavily modded though.

Heck, wouldn't put it in my cars either except I have to (a quick nod to the Bettles my family has owned over the years).

By the, on missing features, what no battery monitor on the iBook?
Didn't anyone miss me a second ago?
    It just died.
