OK, I installed a secondary PCI video card on my system.
When I check the monitor settings and then run tests it works fine.
But otherwise the display is black (except during boot when it dislays the butterfly.
how do I get this display up and running?

Well... assuming these are not two Radeons (the current driver can only handle one Radeon card), it should just work but the display will indeed be black until you open a screen on it. What card is it btw?

Right now, a Voodoo3, but I'd like to switch to a Radeon 9250.

    Still no answer?
    Disappointing.
Its obviously working since it shows during book and while testing resolutions.
So, again, why the black display (black not blank)?

Jim: have you configured some software to open screen on that secondary card?

No, if someone can explain how to do this I'd be grateful,
I'm just amazed that it works.
Plug in a PC Voodoo3 and it works!

Been a while that I had the Voodoo in the PMac (and yes that has worked eversince the 1st release supporting PMacs) so...

    1) settings->system->screens
    2) create new screen and select a "Voodoo...." mode
    3) give it a name ...... please
    4) save

    5) start OWB (or any other MUI app)
    6) find it's MUI settings
    7) select newly created screen
    8) hit "use" or "save"

Non MUI apps might have a screenmode setting hidden somewhere else.

    Kronos,
    You are a major asset.
Thanks to you I have a non flashed SATA controller working, and now the Voodoo3,
I think I'll stick with my G4 Power mac until the G5 supports more than 1 GB of memory.

    After all, its running good.

There's faster way for 6) & 7) nowadays. Select wanted screen from MUI's popup button menu for each program (Jump to Screen).

Jim: but yeah, basically it's just like selecting any screen on Amiga, you must have used screens before. In screens lists there just are separate modes for each gfx card and you can select which card each program uses. By default there isn't anything using secondary etc cards of course.

Cool. That, to me, makes more sense than Windows extended desktop.
Two seperate displays will be useful.
Wish I could find a Voodoo 4500 (that would be better than a Voodoo3).

Frankly, I enjoying this so much that a G5 upgrade really isn't at the top of my list.
What I've got is more than adequate.
