Strange issue I noticed after installing MorphOS on my G4 powemac M8841LL.

After I shutdown my system then hit the power button, it doesnt power back up. If I pull the power cord or power off the surge protector, then plug it back in, it powers on.

Is it the way MorphOS powers off the system?

I wouldn't have thought so, does it do the same when you shut down Mac OSX?

It sounds more like a dodgy PSU in mac. : :-(

I have had this issue with a quicksilver.
    Eventually the mac went bad.
I use a Powerbook now and the power off is abrupt but at least it comes back up.
If it didn't there is a 4 finger salute you can do to clear the pram (or something like that).

I actually ran into this same exact issue. My G4 MDD is the FW800 version that came with the dual 1.42 CPUs. After using the computer for awhile and I would power down, it would not come back on until you pulled the power cord.

Its been awhile, but I changed out my memory and CPU. Not saying it is both causing the issue, but See what memory configuration you have. The very last memory module I had was actually bad, causing my MDD to behave erratically.

If you are brave, and I assume you have an MDD, You should buy a cheap 1.25ghz single GPU card, OC the card to 1.5ghz, and exchange the CPU card. Keep the card that comes out as a spare.

i even switched out the PSU and that still didn't solve my problem. Not sure what exactly it was. I also took out the battery since it was long gone dead. But for sure keep an eye on the memory modules and for the sake of, switch to a single 1.5ghz cpu. 8-)

Hmmm. Now that the battery was mentioned, I actually did put in a working battery back into my G4.. Worth a shot.
