I'm having big problems with installing some games. Mostly because there is no manual to tell me what to install where. Instead of several more hours of trial and error I thought it might be quicker to ask you, my fellow MorphOS gamers :)

Let's start with Quake 1, 2 and 3 and continue woth RoCW and the full version of Duke Nukem 3D.

This might be an easy matter for you, but I AM doing it wrong somewhere and without a manual telling me what to do, I have to ask here instead.

[Edit] Finally found the right files for DN3D. It works now, but the last chapter seems to crasch at start. Still good enough for me :-)

I'll check tomorrow. I had trouble getting it to work too, but finally found a DN3D version that worked. Then I just copied over the shareware files.

Duke Nukem 3D atomic edition quick & dirty install guide:

Download Duke Nukem MorphOS conversion here
    http://morphos-files.net/find.php?find=duke
and extract as you like. Keep in mind that if you add files and high res graphic you will need almost 800 MB of disk space.
This conversion is playable but limited as it has shareware version inside. So if you double click icon it should start though you can play only the first episode (L.A. Meltdown). From the cd you have to copy those files/directories inside the previous directory:
    - Maps (dir)
    - Mod (dir, not strictly necessary)
    - Commit.exe (overwrite existing file)
    - DUKE3D.EXE (overwrite existing file)
    - DUKE3D.GRP (overwrite existing file)
    - DN3DHELP.EXE
Now you have a full Duke Nukem game to play.
If you want some more, here you can download high res graphic:
    http://hrp.duke4.net/about.php
In the download section get the file "Duke3D HRP v5.2 ZIPFILE (677 MB)", extract or open archive and copy all files and directories in Duke directory. Now you have a complete high res game. Inside the download section there are also music packs, xxx (fully naked models pack :-P ) and more.
With high res graphics game is fully playable on my MDD 1.25 G4 Radeon 9250 128 MB though there are same brief slowdowns inside game and random graphic parts disappears (some textures are not shown during a play, showed if you exit and play again). This issue hasn't happened playng on a G5 with a Radeon 9650 256 MB even though some slodowns still occours.
When you start game you will notice a shell window showing some fonts/graphics dirs error but elements are all inside directories and game run without problems so I can't tell why those messages are prompted.

I'd suggest using the older (v4.0) version of the HRP pack for Duke3dw. New versions are meant for Eduke32, and the Polymer renderer.

I got a working tip on how to get Return to Castle Wolfenstein to work if the installer fails:

    Extract the RTCW_MorphOS archive (http://morphos-files.net/download/Return_to_Castle_Wolfenstein)
Open the folder it just created
    Create a folder called 'main'
Copy all the .pk3 files from (both) Wolfenstein CD/ISO into the main folder
Double click Singleplayer icon to play it. :-)

That worked for me on RTCW, however the main folder was there with some of the .pk3 files.
I just needed to copy the rest.

I can't find these two directories anywhere.

[EDIT] Nevermind, those doesn't seem important. I got it all to work, but sadly the graphics are too demanding for my gfx card. 128 meg simply isn't enough.

[EDIT 2] The low res version seems to work well enough though :-)

    I have another problem now.

I've just bought the Robin Hood game. But the installation fails. It just says "RobinCD:untarka: file is not executable". And quits.

    Any suggestions?

mmhhh... the only untarka I know is this:
    http://aminet.net/search.php?query=untarka
It's a real good extract command for Tar/Tar.z/Tar.gz/Tar.bz2 files. Maybe is missing and installer is looking for that? Maybe I'm telling a bull****t....

    @Jambalah

    It was actually quite simple.

How to install Robin Hood - The legend of Sherwood manually

    1. Insert CD
    2. Show all files
    3. Copy Robin_english.tar.bz2 (or _french.tar.bz2) and Robin_main.tar.bz2 to somewhere on your hard drive (the files are big so I don't recommend copying to RAM)
    4. Extract them (double clicking worked for me automatically)
    5. Now you will have 2 new files; Robin_english.tar and Robin_main.tar. Extract them.
    6. Copy the extracted Robin_main drawer to anywhere you want.
    7. Copy the language drawer as it is in the same drawer (the English version is called 2047). You will now have three drawers in the game drawer; 2047, Data and Libs. If so, it's all correct.
    8. Double click on the RobinHood icon
    9. Enjoy!

(I will change this guide if parts of it turns out to be incorrect)

Has anyone got Gish to work? It just glitches out and dies over here on several different machines.

Thanks, but I think I've runned into different problems than is talked about in this thread. Gfx gets mocked up and when I start to play, I immedietly die and return to the menu.

    Anyone else has similar problems?

I was not referring to any problems but to this statement from the linked posting as an answer to your question whether anyone got Gish to work:

"I got Gish running nicely a few days ago"

Well, yes, true, but I was thinking in the lines of 3.2. That it worked before I simply assumed.
