Problems with games

I have Peg.+MOS1.4+Warp3D under Voodoo3 3k. Its all right. But...

    1. Shogo - I can launch it only withoup POPUP. It runs good, but problem is in the game - "I cant change weapon". You must say, that I am crazy, but "changing weapon doesnt work". (I tried to define other keys to change weapon, I tried to define right mouse button to change weapon, but ... nothing). I had Amiga and weapons could be changed without problems.

    2. Heretic2 and Quake2 - It is very fast in 640x480. Good, but only in 640x480, when I change resolution on 800x600 and 1024x768, there is very big difference in speed (about 50% speed decrease). On Amiga was difference between 640x480 and 800x600 very small. Is it Warp3D bug?

For Shogo, it's hard to tell why it doesn't work. It works here with the demo, at least.

For Heretic2 and Quake2, well... On your Amiga, Quake2 was probably not even close to saturating the Voodoo, and therefore the speed of the game was limited by the system, not the 3D hardware. So changing to a higher resolution would have had no or little impact.

OK, I will test the demo.

But trust me, I tried everything with Shogo. My brother is still Amiga user and the same copy of Shogo goes without problems (he can simple change the weapon). I have reinstalled the Shogo on my Peggy, without better results. It is curious.

It's curious indeed - I can play Shogo without problems. (And switch weapons as well :-))

As to the resolution thing - it's a fact, Voodoo slows down. At least we have a machine which can utilise Voodoo to it's limits. Hopefully one day the Radeon 3D support will appear.

    About 640x480 versus 800x600

    When I had Amiga (A1200, BPPC/233+040/33+G-Rex+Voodoo3 3k PCI, ...) Heretic2 in 640x480 goes 28fps, in 800x600 22fps.

On Pegasos with the same gfx card Voodoo3 3k(only AGP version) Heretic2 goes in 640x480 50fps and in 800x600 22fps (like on slow Amiga!!!) - and the question: Why is difference between 640x480 and 800x600 so different?

    I tried same thing here.

    I got 31 FPS in 640x480, 18 in 800x600 for the test I did.

An 800x600 screen has 1.5625 times the amount of pixels a 640x480 screen has.

    18*1.1565 = 28.125

That's pretty close to the projected 31 FPS.. Then you also have to take into account that higher resolution means more memory bandwidth used by the DAC as well, stealing performance from 3D.

Your numbers don't quite fit in this formula, but maybe your 800x600 mode is in a much higher refresh rate than your 640x480 mode?

Well, it's true but not with these poorly coded games. They are not
able to push an old Voodoo to its limit.
If the same games would be correctly coded, they would have a faster
transformation engine and would use multitexturing for a roughly
doubled performance (and would not crash that much but that's a
    different issue).

Stay tuned for a better Quake2 port. That will prove it :)

Unfair hinting :-) Now I will surely die in curiosity :-)

and afaik, that's NOT based on Hyperion's Q2 sources...

(Well, at least first versions of it were demonstrated long before Hyperion's Q2 sources were released to public, but still, after release of Hyperion's Q2)

    Yeah,
the famous and misterious MorphOS version of QuakeII. Will we see it one day Henes? Will it become publicaly available?
