    Merry Christmas!

Wherefrom did you conclude this? And wouldn't the source code have to be freely available for such a port to occur?

In early 2004 the source code for the game logic (not the game engine) was released to the benefit of its modding community.[5] The game uses a modified RTCW engine, itself being a modified Quake III: Team Arena engine (Id Tech 3, which has been open-source since 2005).

That's Enemy Territory, not its predecessor RtCW. And from your link:

"The actual game engine is still closed source as of late 2009"

It's even in your own quote: "not the game engine". So the part that got open sourced does not suffice to port the game but only to create mods for platforms that already have a proprietary compile of the game engine.

Also, see that discussion where you took part back then and where Golem tried to enlighten you regarding your misconception of the matter.

I had heard years ago that a port would be out some time in the future. I can't remember anymore what/where/who the source was. Since the source code is still closed, I guess it won't be to soon. :)

...programmers can now get stuck into the source code (direct download, log on required) of two games, "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory", which id Software has released under an open source licence. Carmack said The source code of "Doom 3" is to become available after the release of Rage. Earlier this week, id Software completed the beta phase of the free Quake Live online shooter and is now offering paid subscriptions for gaming pros and clans.

Here we go. There was a question on aw.net recently:

What happened to all those Amiga coders within our community?

Answer is so simple, we have them in MorphOS camp :)

It has come to my attention that bigfoot has almost finished his port of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory; rejoice!

BUT! The game will be held ransom untill bigfoot is offered not one, not two but three pizzas!!!

Have a hand in getting this great game released. Visit www.just-eat.dk, order pizza (calzone preferably) and have it delivered at bigfoot's place (get his adress at #morphos). If we overload him with pizzas there's even a chance he'll port Return To Castle Wolfenstein!

    3 pizzas: port of RTCW
    5 pizzas: new 3d drivers
    10 pizzas: Crysis for MorphOS

Bigfoot: give us your favourite menu :)

As far as I understand, the preferred menu is a calzone with extra mushrooms and coke. But take it with a grain of salt, I just don't think I can understand any random language that was used on #morphos today.... :P

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

Since bigfoot did not receive any pizza, he became so hungry that he started porting Return To Castle Wolfenstein:

Want the game? Want Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory? Feed bigfoot (www.just-eat.dk, visit #morphos for address).

Great job and payment method, I'd say! Pity that home delivery fast food site isn't obvious to use for non danish people.

MorphOS Team's sense of humour is something to write about in the years to come.

Well, a pizza is pretty real if you ask me. But then, there's also a PayPal button for the guys responsible of the 3d infrastructure in MorphOS:

So, one can but hope that we will one day see the new "TinyDirect3D.library" released, shaders support, newer gfx cards supported (now with the better PowerMacs they wouldn't do much harm)... You know, I still have the coder of Virtual Grand Prix 3 waiting ;-)

    Kind regards,
