Hi all, I would like to give your attention to this interesting project - NEXUIZ = 3D shooter game (1st person deathmatch fun), that is under GNU and also ported for x86 Linux. I have tested it on my PC and it looks really great! :-D

    Look here: http://www.nexuiz.com

Game has reworked Quake1 engine, but looks like something between Quake2 and Quake3 with realtime lights and shadows. Is there anybody interested to port this game on MorphOS or PPC linux?

Already ported it to mos. You can guess when it will be released tho.... Some teasers: http://www.binaryriot.com/kiero/misc/

PS. It's dark because gamma correction is not applied. Some screenshots are showing lightmaps only (main textures disabled by purpose).

[EDIT]: If You meant that link then sorry for spoiling it. Your comment was not there yet when started writing:)

Mmmh, kiero already spoiled my fun...

Just joking, since I found the screenshot a couple of days ago (actually, it was AlieM that found them). Way to go, kiero.

Easy man! Kiero is not in a "secret users club" he is a developer. Unfortunately, it seems he has been running so called "1.5 " for some time now and uses components in it for development projects...

Without any funding source we just have to wait for mos team to get it done when they can. My main issue is the lack of communication, no feature set, and no news. This is what kills the community not lack of release imo.

It really seems they should just release what they have now or soon, people like yourself are real tired of it, but its a hobby OS not much we can do.

    Unfortunately? :-?
Anyway, kiero is not just a developer, he's part of the MOS team (working on Ambient, and, more relevant to the topic, he's the author of tinygl.library). Since he is in charge of the OpenGL implementation in MOS, I find it quite uderstandable that he is testing his work by porting some complex games... I don't think I could criticize anything, instead I'm thankful for the work he (and the others as well) is doing. We'll get it when everything will be on place, debugged and working.

I would normally agree. But then, as you can see, people would accuse them of teasing us. So maybe they're doing the right thing.

    @Acill
Consider this as a proof work keeps getting done, not as a tease. That's quite normal (that the development version is ahead than the public one), and is actually a good thing. We'll eventually get everything soon(ish).

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

...and it runs much slower than Doom3. :-(
I tried it on AthlonXP 3200+ with 1GB and Radeon 9800Pro and it is not totally fluid, even with realtime shadows switched off.

... yes it runs much slower then Doom3 when all effects are enabled. But realtime shadows and realtime lights are not neccesary to play this cool deathmatch game (20fps with effects, 300 fps without effects).

On Pegasos (MOS) we havent kind of UT or Q3 game, so this could be tolerable imitation. I have with Nexuiz real fun playing on the internet (many many servers are are still online).

I have been playing this game on my Powermac 2.5 dual system for over a week now. It runs very smooth and fast on that with all effects in. I do have an X800 card though. It doesnt play to well on my Powerbook 1.67 G4 with a Radeon 9600 though. Its a bit slow.

Its a fine game none the less.

... :o))) I am not sure, but we will not be able to play it with all effects enabled even on Pegasos G4 + ATI R9200. I have Pegasos1 G3 + ATI R7k and I will be grateful if it will run smoothly in 800x600 without realtime effects.

But at the weekend we can between ourselves (MOS, Linux, ... users) have a lot of deathmatch adventures :-) :-P :-D

Iam really very looking forward to this (more then to CUBE).

If he does not do it people will complain that he was secretely hiding it.
IMO, it is better that efforts are not duplicated.

Yes, I've learned, that it's a good idea to "ask around" before starting to port something, someone might have already done that :-)

Or have TRIED to do that, and have very valuable information, what were the problems...

Ported version is now too old.
You won't be able to connect a server with it....

And version ported was way too slow to be playable anyway.

But speed improvements have been made since the 2006 version. So maybe a new port could be playable ?
