In an earlier thread from last year a morpzone
user stated that he could get a copy of the AHI 68k compatible executable... Has anyone used this version on their Pegasos?

    Thank You,

You have to write to epic to get this update. They will send it to you.

    How "public" that AHI-version is?

I've used it, and it sure seems to work nicely...

Thomas Würgler said on pagan-e2140 mailing list, that:
(about unreleased 68k version with AHI support)
"Well, actually it doesn't work on MorphOS. Only on AmigaOS. We tried it. Must be buggy emulation."

Would it be okay to post there, that such patch exists, and it works nicely on MorphOS (1.4)? This well might result in more sales, for both original E2140 and the mission pack :-)

Thomas Wurgler is wrong then :-)

I emailed Epic, who sent me the 68k AHI version and it works just great (except for sound in the intro I think is hardcoded.)...direct from Thomas Steiding.

I wonder if they have a WarpUP AHI version...that should work just fine too? (or maybe this is what Thomas W meant - buggy PPC/WarpUP emulation)

He also said Pagan cannot create a MorphOS PPC version because they do not have access to a Pegasos for testing.

"WarpUP AHI version makes no sense due to context switches (on 68k AmigaOS)" was the reply, when I asked that question on the mailing list.

I have played Earth2140 on my A1200PPC with the MP Pack, and the 68k AHI version on Pegasos rocks is faster and more stable then on my old A1200PPC.

    @ ThePlayer

Thanks for the comment that is very encouraging to know.
I had never seen the mission pack untill I went to Vesalia's site.
How good are the missions it adds? I have played 2150 on Pc
and once played a little of 2140 on the pc as well.

    Thanks,

    Katos1

I played Earth2150 on PC also but i didn´t like it. the Missions Pack is great, but i didn´t get it running with the 68k Ahi version because it patches the exe file :-(
But i liked the new missions and vehicles in the MP.

Yes it is. It uses an older licensed version of MooVid playback library, which is hardcoded for audio.device, so it will probably never work on Pegasos. (Note: It could work easily, since MooVid does not do register-level Paula hacks after allocation of audio.device channels as most other sound software do, but i doubt there will be an update for this version of playback library ever.)

Well a new library with the same functions only calling AHI could be used in place of it couldnt it? i think someone that knows what they are doing shouldnt have much of a problem with that.

    Thanks too all for helping,

After getting the AHI version from Thomas...Many thanks,
I have played it several times. I have had no real problems with the
animations, even the sound worked good... the only problem is my rusty
    playing capabilities...:-)

"WarpUP AHI version makes no sense due to context switches (on 68k AmigaOS)" was the reply, when I asked that question on the mailing list.

I think that "it depends" would be a more correct reply. Imho, if the game that makes use of AHI is PPC native (I believe that the particular game comes in 68k and PPC flavours) and the 68k CPU is a 68040/25, there could be a benefit from a WarpOS AHI.
