I'm using a Radeon x1550 on my sam460ex. It has full 2D/3D support.
And I'm having the exact same problems.
edit: I've tried the following games:
OpenTyrian: works
Cannonball:works
Super Methane Brothers:works
OpenTTD: doesn't work , same problem as pinball space cadet.
