    Anyone aware or used successfully the AirMac Extreme A1029 card as compatible hardware with PPC G4 or G5 hardware? :-?

    I've owned the A1027 and the A1026 cards, but they are named AirPort Extreme.

    So, is the hardware different/incompatible in the A1029 card hardware? :-?

    They are dated as manufactured in 2003, which is still within the PPC G4/G5 hardware manufacturing era.

    According to this source, Apple marketed the AirPort hardware as 'AirMac' in Japan. No idea regarding the number/chipset, though.

    @ Andreas_Wolf - thanks for the link/info, though that doesn't offer any compatibility corroboration, or links to any definitive compatibility information for PPC hardware, as such, but it is helpful anyway. 8-)

    Yes, I was just explaining the "AirPort" vs. "AirMac" naming inconsistency.

    @ Andreas_Wolf - yes, I got your inference of the naming being inconsistent in the first comment you made about it with your links, but the AirMac Extreme's (A1029) compatibility is what I was most interested in finding out - which isn't directly mentioned or any detail of the chipset used on the card, which was the reason for my comments. 8-)

    @NewSense:

    But you do have an actual A1029 to test or did you just wonder if it's worth buying one?

    Well, I guess in that case we will never know the answer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
