Due to the enormous popularity of this thread I think a Quake tournament section on MZ would be cool. Maybe we can all set an INTL tournament date and time every week with login details? I have never played an over the net game! I have Quake2 MOS version (F Hyperion version)

targhan - send me an email and I'll help you get going on Q2 :P

If you do, let me know. I know some folk from the OpenQuartz project, so folk won't even need a copy of Quake to join. (OpenQuartz is an open-source replacement to the Quake game itself, so is free for distribution)

But it would be nice if we made some custom levels focused around Morphzone. Anyone got a map of the new Genesi office? Tee hee!

    You guys ;-)

I haven't checked with the antibike or zacman yet, time has been a commodity around here lately. As some of you know, I've been having to deal with some of the more sad type of family matters as of late...

Anyway, I'll see if they are interested, and will try to find someone who'll make us some kind of Quake-II/MorphOS image that we can put times, server info, etc on. Now, Downix, throw us some more info about OpenQuartz ;-)

OpenQuartz is fairly straightforward, it's a replacement pak file set for Quake. (I not II) This means, using it, you don't need a copy of Quake's pak files, only the binary file.

It's short on levels tho, so I'm getting some folk to make us some custom levels. When I've made a grand-pakfile of all this, I'll get it put into the download area. But in the meantime, download the initial pakfile and run with it. Try it out, know the levels, etc.

If you guys have any ideas for levels, let me know. Got some level-guys that are short on ideas but long on talent.

If Bifford still has all the webbrowser grabs, we could have a bifford-room/area using a collage of all of the webgrabs from the MWD :-)

First we'd need a server up, wouldn't we? I had one running last night for testing, but nothing longer-term at this point.

Need someone to clean up the textures a bit, they're rather crude atm.

the server is allways not available.. i tried it a few times in last days.. nothing...
hey I'm fragfodder... so please let me in! :)

And I hope the server has all the funny custom Character models/skins installed? If not then download them from q2maps.com (or q2map.com?)! :)

I mostly use homer or the chicken! :)

Tip: when u install them, better rename all files to lowercase, else it will not work. Oh and enable donwload in player setup options.

    regards,

Ok, I have an original Quakeworld server up at:

    adsl-34-197-181.bct.bellsouth.net

Runs the original Quake game, not OpenQuartz. (I'm working on getting OQ packed up with the engine first)

If anyone wants to play, I'll have it up till midnight EST.

It's a Quakeworld server, so likely you'll need to use the quakeworld client.
