VNC, if I wan´t to use the port, must I have a working Internet connection, or can I use the portation ofline, too?

    [ Edited by Tobibrocki on 2006/7/14 22:12 ]

no, u have misunderstood the whole thing :D

VNC is the utility bigfoot use to interact with his peg (without keyboard and etc etc ) to realize the porting of warsow.
Because VNC is an utility connected to the net , the refresh of the remote computer (in this case the pegasos with the warsow running) isn't accurate, so if u want to tweak and fix the game code this isn't the best solution.

maybe when bigfoot can return to use directly his peg (not with a remote control), we will saw a perfect porting :-)

Strange. I tried in AROS and softstyled italic AA fonts most of the time look better than softstyled italic non-AA fonts. But even if it's not so, there's still the possibility to simply render softstyle italic AA fonts as non-AA font by doing something like this in Text():

    Code:

    if (is_aafont && should_do_softstyle_italic) is_aafont = FALSE;

to make it fall back to the non-AA Text rendering code.

Then either your eyes or your monitor is broken. ;)

If you know (and I assume you do) how softstyle italic and AA works it kinda explains itself...

Yes, that is a possibility, but then people would claim that is a bug as well. ;)

Well, indeed I have a keyboard and a mouse now, but I've been busy with work all week and now both my computer and I are having problems coping with the heat. Hopefully I will get something done tomorrow, though :)

    Ok! :)
Have you tried watercooling(I still don´t know if this does work with the Peg!?)?
If you got the time to work on the port, I would be happy if you could post your progress with it! :)
Man, what a ugly weather yesterday (hot and rain and no sun, because there were to many dark clouds)! :(

Yes, but getting cold water out of the tap is quite hard here, and the fridge doesn't seem to be working too well either.

Oh, you mean the computer. Well, water cooling is quite overkill. It's only a problem because it's cramped inside a small case with no airflow and poor cooling.

You know it's time to do something about it when you get these messages from OF:

I've just put the fan on 12v instead of 5v now though, I just have to live with the noise till the weather gets better, I guess.

The thing with the pizza was a joke from bigfoot! ;)

How good does the port work? I mean, does MorphOS/the Game crash sometimes?

How many fps do you get now? Do you get Celshading now?

Aem, bigfoot, did you know that the ingame serverbrowser of war§ow has a bug (you don´t see any server) since 0.11? I must use this java browser application wich is included in the .zip! Do you see servers with the port?

Sorry, I hope that are not to many questions!? :/

    Greetz,
    Tobibrocki

PS.: Bigfoot, I must say it again, you are doing pretty good work! :)

Nope. The one crash bug I did find was a bug in Warsow, which I reported to the authors... But you know, no reply :P

    Quote:

Not as many as in QW :)

    Quote:

    Do you get Celshading now?

Nope. I guess that requires pixel shaders. But I'm GL-clueless, you'd have to ask kiero what it requires and then feed me with pizza and kiero with booze untill that feature is implemented. Kiero has been away boozing for a bit over 4 days now already, though.

BTW, I made the video menu settings code for MorphOS today so it generates a list of available monitors, depths and resolutions from the system and lets the user choose from that instead of using a predefined list of resolutions like the original does.

    warsow_video_menu.png

Yes, it was as boring to code as it is to look at, sorry about that :)

Next up is adding support for vorbisfile.library, but it's way past my bedtime now, so that'll be some other time.

Wow, this screenshot looks really promising! :-))
By the way, nice Ambient! ;)
Mmmh.., you have set the game to fullscreen, but I don´t see fullscreen (if I would mean Ambient, thats fullscreen ;) )? Did I get something wrong?
Must the user choose the screenmode everytime he starts War§ow?
How much percent are finished this time?
And the last one, how quick does War§ow start/appear?

    I don´t have Alcohol/booze here, but Hawai pizza! ^_^

Looks great! So when do we get a chance to try it out? Also do you plan to use an installer that asks for the original Quake II disk and have it putt all the required files out of it?

Hm, well, same status as last time. Something about some Ogg code. Maybe this weekend?

About the pizza, a pizza plus delivery would be at least 10 euro, and I'm back from Denmark now, so it's too late anyway.

It's time for you guys to try it out and find all the bugs.

    http://bigfoot.morphos-team.net/test/warsow_0.12_test.tar.bz2

Please note that this is NOT a release. Please don't link to this archive from anywhere else yet. It's meant for your testing so whatever bugs and problems there might be can be found before a real release, as I don't have any motivation to actually play this game myself.

Of known problems can be mentioned that Radeon users who experience graphics problems probably want to reduce the texture detail in the graphics settings in the game. This isn't a bug in the game itself, though, but rather a feature of some of my other absolutely perfect code.

You need to download the Linux (or Windows, probably, but not tested) game archive from http://www.warsow.net/ to run this game.

First impressions. It works as a server.. I was able to run around ;-)
Couldnt find any servers by pressing Global Search .. so I couldn't play.

Notice, with 256mb I had to do a clean boot and exit all commodities or otherwise I ran out of memory.
