    the results on ppcnux page are a bit low. a friend with 9200se made a tests and he got following results (tested with max settings. next to these in brackets are results from radeon 7500 128bit):

    800x600 - 31 (38)
    1024x768 - 19 (36)
    1280x1024 - 16,9 (28)

    pegasos4 g4. before test TGLSYNC envvar was set to 0 (disable waiting for vertical refresh) with setenv TGLSYNC 0 and then flushlib with avail flush. it only shows that radeon 9200se is a low-end card.

    2:
    Current drivers are not using hardware T&L unit. shaders won't help here either as they are used for completely different things.

    3:
    Don't expect that one, non-payed man will create better/equal drivers than the ones delivered by card manufacturer. Compare speed between linux and mos drivers running on same machine. I would really like to see how quake3 performs there.

    4:
    Some things can't be enabled without new MorphOS release. With 1.5 You should get nice speedup (both radeon and voodoo). Don't ask what or when please.

    Thanks for clearing it up. I know you are using a Radeon 7500 as am I . Do you think I need to upgrade my card to have nice looking screens and it be fast enough for network play @ 32bit? Please tell me what framerate you are getting and such. And naturally thanks for your hardwork on the tinygl. And I did donate as should everyone who uses the drivers :-)

    What component of "1.5" gives this speedup? Does the alpha ver I have give this speedup.. and glad to see you posting here...

    I really cannot get them any higher than

    800x600 - 27.1
    1024x768 - 15.6
    1280x1024 - 12.7

    with max settings.

    Maybe you use ram modules with different speeds.

    Just did a quick test to see how much of a speed up can be expected. In 1024x768x32 I get a 89% speedup in timedemo in Q3. This is probably an extreme case, but a very good speed up can be expected.

    Wow! that's a huge increase of speed :-)

    We'll wait patiently the release of the mighty 1.5.

    In the meantime... LOTS OF THANKS to all people involved in releasing the drivers for 1.4!!!

    And lots of thanks for releasing Quake3 too. :-)

    Last weeks have been full of surprises and I'm very happy :-)

    @Crumb:

    This was a test with the standard OEM 256MB ODW module.
    Today I exchanged it for my MDT 512MB one and got the following results (max quality and options):

    800x600 - 27.1 -> 27.2
    1024x768 - 15.6 -> 15.6
    1280x1024 - 12.7 -> 12.4 (uhm, maybe with more testing it might have hit 12.7 again)

    The marginally better RAM does not do much for high quality results, but the normal (+ high geometry) settings benefited:

    640x480 - 40.1 -> 41.3
    800x600 - 36.0 -> 36.9
    1024x768 - 28.4 -> 28.9

    I guess Kiero's friend must have a differently clocked gfxcard, better OS components or did not use the same game settings.

    So I just wait for the upcoming optimizations and think about how to express my appreciation without having to register with Paypal. :)

    OEM means who is the manufacture.
    My Radeon 9250 was build by HIS, there are some others like Club3D, Captiva, GCube, ASUS, Saphire...
