It works! I haven't tested it much, but the hanging problem that haunted OpenJK seems to be gone!

There are still some graphical glitches, the most serious being the lack of fog. This is actually a combination of two unimplemented features in TinyGL (GL_FOG, glClearColor). The game has a fallback to the Q3 style fog, but glClearColor must be implemented to have the correct look.

Some levels are effected more badly then others. Outdoor ones with fog will look pretty bad:
    - mp/ctf2
    - hoth2
    - t1_rail
    - t2_trip
    - taspir1
    - vjun1

Hi, it works here as well!

I 've also encounter one of the levels that you mentioned regarding the fog.

Could someone with an R300 card check whether the aforementioned levels have a black background, or some other (light blue, yellow, etc.) color?

I checked the one with the fog on the train level and it was complete/solid grey color which after a while crashed my system (though my card is a little bit unstable in general and I am certain this wasn't due to your port).

Hmm, that's interesting. A less demanding level like mp/ctf2 might be better for the testing. A screenshot of the outside area would be most helpful. Just type screenshot into the console. You can bind it to a key too, for example bind KP_STAR screenshot" will make the asterisk key on your numpad take a screenshot.

edit: Never mind, I just tested it myself. The glClearColor bug only affects R200 cards.

I more or less fixed the fog. It looks a bit different than GL_FOG, but does the job for the single player levels. The mp/ctf2 still looks a bit nasty, I'll see if I can add a hack to tweak the fog opacity for that particular level. Stay tuned.

Update: Jedi Academy t1_rail map fog works very nice!

(though my ATI core fails in certain points, that's a problem I can reproduce, but I doubt that it has anything to do with your port)

I tested Jedi Outcast and it performs much, much better than QIII and RTCW. I am running it on 1280x1024 with max details and there is no single fps drop regardless of the scenery and number of enemies.

Now, where is your next game port? ;)

Nah, I still keep finding small visual problems with OpenJK. If the crashes are reproducible, then logs + save files would be useful. Maybe it affects other people too.

    @Cego
Man, they sure did a great job hiding the source code of these two.

Another update. I fixed two bugs:
    1) Loading of Ghoul 2 surface flags. Blaster wielding rodiants no longer have a huge hole on their back.
    2) Disabled EXT_texture_env_add, because TinyGL doesn't seem to support it. This fixes some of the screens and displays, like the ones in t2_rancor.

Some additional info, like a crashlog would be a good start.

I had similar case and the solution was:
change the r_ext_compress_textures "1" to "0". You can find it in the file openjo_sp.cfg.

Now I remember someone telling me, that the texture compressor in TinyGL locks up on G5 machines.

No problem, but here's what you have to do first: negotiate with 2K games to release the source code preferably under a non-restrictive license. Good luck!
