Warsow port?

    Hi there,
I just wanna ask if anyone is going (or already working) on a MorphOS port!?
If you don´t know what warsow is: www.warsow.net

It´s a standalone Egoshooter based on Qfusion engine (modified QuakeII engine)! It´s a great game that is played at e-sports scene! The Linux port of it is using SDL (I think).
It´s too bad that I´m a total noop at programming! :-(

This game could make the MorphOS Platform a little bit mor attractive for gamers and others, too!
I think if it were ported it would run well (if you don´t use the bloom effect), because it´s based on QuakeII engine and QuakeII works on MorphOS!

Are here programmers who can try to port it?

The only thing I can do is changing some textures (everyone can do that :-P ) and other stuff like that!

    Greetz,
    Tobibrocki

Note: I have no Pegasos and MorphOS (I´m waiting for my one, hope it will come soon) this time!
    Only damn shitty Windows! :-x
A reason for this thread: I don´t like Windows, but I wanna play my alltime favourite game! I think I´m not the only person here who would like to see a port, or am I!?

I just got done playing with the MacOs X version of this game, its very good. I hope we can get it over to MorphOS.

Also, welcome to the site. I hope you get your Pegasos soon. You will love it. Your English is fine, and we also have plenty of other Germans here.

Thanks, to you, too! :-) Are there people with the ability to port it? Or are there some who work on a port this time?

How did you get the MacOSX port, it´s not out this time, istn´t it!?

    Doubt it.

Well, it at least seems to have a lot of Quakeworld's physics and movement.

Eek, Quake 2... Guess it's quite ugly, then (the code).

Have you ever tried Quakeworld? :)

    Quote:

I know what is implied by this sentence, but may I once again remind people that the part that SDL covers (and doesn't cover too well) is the smallest part of porting such a thing. If you're wasting time actually porting a game, you might as well invest those few hours more and get it done right.

    How about Quakeworld? :)

OK, that's the strangest logic I've seen on here in a little while :)

Have you ever seen Dark Places Quake? It's based on Quake 1, and Quake 1 runs on MorphOS... Yet Dark Places doesn't exactly boast a high FPS count on MorphOS :)

    Dunno.

Created the needed MorphOS-specific code, then fixed the nasty bugs in the game.

Well, I would really like to see Dark Places released... but... last time I asked you where to deliver the pizza you said that you would be not in Denmark for a while... ;-)

How many FPS do you get with Dark Places on the starting scene of that game with all eyecandy enabled on a Peg2 g4/1000 with MOS with a r200 based gfx card? More or less than 15 FPS?

Just look how easy is to get new ports / stuff for MOS!
Tobibrocki asks for a port of a game in 2006/6/29 and about three days after that bigfoot presents the first results of his work!
    Isn't great? :-D

Why MOS Team isn't so fast?

The Speed you are working in is great bigfoot!
I hope you will release a playable version soon! At this time, please, give us more screenies showing you progress and tell us the current state of the port!
You´re doing a fantastic work, keep it up!!!!! :)))

If you do a release, could you make two versions please! One complete package (contains the game and all changed files), and a smaller package(contains only the changed/ported files), because I have a really bad connection here (56k), so, it would much easyer for me to replace the files than downloading the whole game again, that was pure stress, even with this connection(the Download breaks 3 times)! :-o
But if you do a complete package, it´s ok, too!

    Greetz,
    Tobibrocki

Keep up the good GOOD (very good)work!!!!! :))

Currently? Probably around 2FPS. VNC is fun :)

But OK, tried launching DP on my laptop, a 1.6GHz Core Duo with Radeon X1400. Ran it in 640x400, with just Q1 data files, started a new game, enabled realtime world lightning and I got about 4 FPS... I guess that should give you an idea :)

I can't distribute data files without the agreement of the copyright holder(s), which I at the current time don't have. Judging by the interest in the bugfixes I've posted to them, don't hold your breath.
