There seems to be a new racing game for OS4 and MorphOS, and support may come for PPC Linux and even classic 68k Amiga later.

    Here's a video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obMC53p4Qnc

And download link for MorphOS version:
    http://amigatec.com/drupal/?q=node/123

Looks nice (Lotus/Outrun style), but gameplay is a bit too simple currently... not even at Lotus level what I quickly tried...

That doesn't look bad for an early version. The more software the better I saw. Who made this?

Looks like the Cannonball (=reverse engineered OutRun) port, with new graphics by Michael St. Neitzel under the banner of AmigaTec Inc.
This is just like television, only you can see much further.

I thought the same but I have asked him and he told me that he is programming it from scratch.
Cannonball would have all the bells and whistles he is/was adding step by step.

Oh, okay. I assumed it was Cannonball, because of how OutRun-like the game is.

Game looks really neat, although it lacks some basic features:

    - Add sound effects on collision, car strafing, engine start
    - Add option to enable/disable music and/or lower its level (use all of daxx's lotus remixes like you did in intro imho)
    - Add/change graphics when car is strafing (smokes on the front wheels) and when stopping from top speed (smokes on rear wheels with red lights on at the back of the car)
    - Change car graphics when strafing (make car touching the ground more realistically, now it looks like it is floating)
    - Once finishing the lap for 1 fps you get to notice the start/checkpoint screen
    - Timer on upper right corner doesn't seem right every time a second goes away (like it gets misplaced for a split of a second).
    - Collision detection should be improved (become more sensitivity) when hitting other cars from side ways (instead of losing speed only when rear hitting them) and you should also speed down immediately when going off route on the side ways.
    - Add option for manual and automatic transmission (with penalty on top speed when using a/t, to make it harder). Transmission should be changed by the fire button of a joystick (holding up stick+button -> transmission upwards, down stick+button-> transmission down)
    - Add option for normal/easy mode, where on the latter you get road signs for up ahead turns
    - Consider adding turbo/nitro mode like on Crazy Cars III (i.e. by pressing the space bar)
    - If more tracks are added, perhaps a fuel tank hud should be implemented along with a re-fueling system while ingame
    - Update the boing ball with more variety of amiga logos while ingame (i.e. from game companies like Gremlin, Magnetic Field, Lotus Challenge/Jaguar XJ cover arts etc)

Live update works by the way. I get steady 33 fps on my system (MorphOS 3.9, PMAC 3.1@ 1.6Ghz, 9800Pro flashed) in window mode although I think 60 fps should be the target. Is there an option for fullscreen?
Played the game via my old amiga greek stick (with 9pin to usb) and the feeling reminded me the old great days! The graphics are super, game's engine looks super, for a complete game I would pay 30-40 euros (with working internet co-op, online high-scores, more level variety night/evening/snowing/raining, more cars etc).

What I miss in the driving model most is that it doesn't seem to under steer (slide) on the corners at all, you just can go full speed like on rails there. On Lotus you have to pull up the acceleration in such situations to be able to take the tighter corners.

And also pulling up doesn't have any effect how well the car turns in this game.. in Lotus it affected and that could be used moving during the corners and making moves to overtake.

If anyone is interested in technologies, how such car games were implemented in the past, here is a page that explains it quite nicely.

The author has released an 1.4 online update.

"changelogs" are only available via his facebook group and a1k forum currently, so here are some crossposted new features:

    - selectable cars (limited to 3 currently)
    - crash/drift sounds
    - moving horizon/animated background

    Great! Here's my newest feedback:

    1) Soundtrack is really cool (especially the knight rider remix ;))!

    2) Snow effect looks great but snow flakes should be also falling on the background (not only on the foreground of the screen). Expecting also rain effect on next levels ;)

    3) Add a speedometer inside the gaming screen when racing

    4) You still don't get hit when hitting side poles, outside the road

    5) Add a waveform on the music album selection screen (one might want to just listen the soundtrack while taking a break. a visual feedback would be neat)

    6) Add a demo mode after the splash screen and keep the intro music on loop

    7) Cars still look like they are hoovering on the road :(

    8) Blue sparkles look horrible when strafing but its something :P Hope there is an effect that will improve them.

PS: I hope the developer reads my feedback posts, otherwise I am writting them for nobody :P

The author really requests people who are interested to participate with feedback and reports to join his facebook group as he is doing all this in his spare time and tries to focus on key forums only, otherwise he wouldn't be able to spend time on actual development of the game.

I think you are the one thats missing here :-)

"Next track: Northern Track. But there i need some help. People that live in Norway, Sweden etc. - if you want to see your house (or buildings around you) in the game then please take a picture of the objects and send them to me ( via Mike@AmigaTec.com ) Please remember, that these should be "clear" photos, so no obstacles infront of the buildings (such as a parked car, people etc) attached are 2 examples from the game (already scaled down and transparent with alpha channel) that you get some idea what views and angles works best."
