anyone tried the Free Heroes of Might and Magic 2?

    http://morphos-files.net/find.php?n&find=Free%20Heroes%20II

it's great port with some small disfunctionalities... one especially annoying is the not working save game... where snoopium says: /files/save/newgame... failed... a guess it's just badly defined path in source code... or any other solutions?

thanks in advance, i love this game!

    bye, MarK.

The authors of this port know about this issue. Either it's fixed already or it will be fixed soon.

Something like that should solve the problem :
    makedir /files
    makedir /files/save

This will create a dirty directory outside of heroes2 directory but it should work

I did, and it seems to be a big step forward compared to the old port, which also had the not working save game problem btw.

In latest versions Save should work on this address : http://amigacommunity.free.fr/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=130&forum=2

Some versions of untgz are not uncompressing empty directories, so this may explain problem when trying to save (But it's true that I already published at least 1 version where save function was not working).

Note that stefkos version seem's to be faster than mine, sadly free heroes 2 author have removed some AI code from sources due to some "bad ass" coders revamping his code for some commercial games... Full AI functionnalities are only available for Windows, Mac and linux binaries.

Yes, this was probably the problem I had back then. I didn't know that the solution was as easy as creating the missing save directory manually, but on the other hand I didn't investigate the issue deeply anyway.

Ah yeah, I just read about that in the source file. A pity.
