Quake issues

    Im having various problems with Quake and 3D games in general. First, is there a reason why I cant jump back to Ambient while leaving Quake (or other 3D game, tried with Quake2, PayBack, WipeOut and Fortis) running in the background? I mean, my whole system starts to glitch and stutter and cpu usage is 100%, its almost impossible to move cursor back to depth gadget to go back. Once back in Quake, everything is smooth again.

    My system is Quicksilver PowerMac with Sonnet Encore/ST Duet 2x1,6GHz (SG4D-1600) 1,5Gb ram and Radeon 8500 64Mb.

    Another issue, is there a Quake client compatible with Nehahra mod? Im getting strange error: I_Error: sprites/explode1.spr32 has wrong version number (32 should be 1), zero google hits, and I have no idea what's wrong. It starts, but I cant actually start a new game, It just quits the game with the error.

    Then quake 2, is there a port available with cdaudio support? Does the Hyperion version work on Mos with 3D & cdaudio?

    Unrelated to Quake, but is there a way to launch Mplayer with different ahi unit? I'd like to stream music while playing and currently It takes the same ahi unit as Quake.

    Yes, tried that, didn't do the trick. Mplayer works, but no sound from Quake.
