March? The project was imported into CVS 5 months ago and the latest update was made 3 weeks ago. I wouldn't call that dead.
And I believe they call their latest release alpha 3.0. I have no idea how far along they really are though, but it sure does look cool and UFO kicked ass.

Actually, I've been working on Laser Squad style strategy game for long (Using isometric 3D graphics)

Development started few years ago on AmosPro on 7MHz A2000 (Back then I needed to SLOW it down on that machine...)

After that, I continued development on very same A2000 and quite upgraded A1200, in the latest Amos versions, it took sometimes 5 seconds to update screen on A2000 :-)

I did make RTG version of Amos version of that game, it also worked on MorphOS (on A1200) but some time later, I converted many of existing Amos code succesfully to C, changing a few things (like resolution, color depth etc.)

What the final Amos version had working:

-2 opposing teams of 5 units
    -Action points for each unit
    -Working Field of Vision
-3-level visibility (0-Can't see, 1-can see but no enemy units, 2-can see fully)
    -Keyboard controls
    -Partially working mouse controls
-2 types of weapons, single shot and shotgun
    -Working map
