I need suggestions for which Amiga 68k, or Native MorphOS2.3 PPC game to use in the soon to happen Amiga Game Competition at the AmiWest 2009 Show this October.

I have finally received approval to run an Amiga Game competition at the show and I will be using 5 different computers to run the 5 different games which make up the competition. One of those computers will be my Efika running MorphOS2.3 and I would like to hear which games you think would be best to use to show off MorphOS2.3 best at the show. It must be a game that shows a numerical result at the end of each game, as all scores of the 5 games will be totaled together to determine the winners (or finalists) of the competition.

There will be prizes for at least the top three contestants and one raffle prize for one lucky person just for joining in the competition.

So please let me know what games run great on an Efika as I am not much of a game player, even though I own several hundred Amiga games.

Thanks for your suggestions and help in choosing which game to use at AmiWest 2009. There will also be another Efika at my table during the show running MorphOS2.3 continuously during the entire show for everyone to try out for themselves. It was very popular last year and I think that with the release of 2.3 and the soon release of the MacMini version, there will be even more interest in MorphOS this year.

You can also try WipEout 2097 - runs extremely well, and it's easy to compare scores.

BoulderDaesh has a competition mode. You setup the game, reset the scores and enable the competition mode.

Now the game is using a fixed level set and asks for the name of each player who break the record. At the end you can simply check the high score to see who won. There is no need to keep an eye on the system, as its self explaining and its not possible to cheat.

This was already used on some show in austria.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I will try out each of those games to see which is the most impressive running on my own Efika, as I obviously want it to show well in the competition so it will make the contestants think, "Wow, this MorphOS on an Efika CAN really be a lot of FUN".

Please keep more suggestions coming of which games would be good to use on my Efika for the game competition at AmiWest 2009. Even if I don't use your suggestion for the competition, I will try to have it running at some time during the show on the second Efika that I will have there at my display table, which will be demoing MorphOS2.3 during the entire length of the show for anyone who wants to sit down and play with it to see what MorphOS is like. I had many people last year that were curious and wanted to see what MorphOS was like and also wanted to see how well it ran on the Efika.

So, thanks again and please keep those suggestions for games coming. Also post or send me suggestions for non-game programs to show on the Efika that will impress everyone at the show and show them how useful and entertaining MorphOS and the Efika can be.

BoXiKoN - simple and solid puzzle game with nice gfx. MorphOS native version is freeware.

VGP2 - Laptimes for some easy track, if you can find working usb driving wheel :) Freeware for MorphOS too.

Then some games which work, but can't remember how suitable they would be in the compo... AsteroidsTR, Xmoto, Foobilliard, PPRacer...

I think HyperCanon would be an excellent choice for a game competition. A fast and frentic shooter with cool graphics, it should run fine on an Efika. And it's not available for other Amiga flavors only for MorphOS and the iPod/iPhone.
