    Hi!

I just compiled the latest REminiscence to MorphOS. The archive is available here

For those who don't know, REminiscence is an open source engine for running game "Flashback". It requires data files from PC version, and optional mod files from Amiga version (if you want music, that is)

    Read the provided readme files!

And also note, that switching between window and fullscreen does NOT work currently!

Hmm.. flashback.. that are memories. :-)

btw., there was also an open source engine for another world which probably could need an updated MorphOS port too. ;-)

    regards,

You mean the one, that was canceled on request of the author of the original game? No much/any progress on that project obviously...

There was a "hires patch" which I managed to locate and compile. The game basically works, but the graphics are quite buggy in many places, and it's pretty obvious that it was not designed for higher resolutions, as shapes of many objects (such as guns) look way too simple (like a triangle, for example) when in lores they were just... Well, lores.

maybe we can push the original author to put the source of the reedited version of AW in a "trusted programmer" 's hands and sell the shareware game to the mos community

I tried with the latest powersdl, and switching between window and fullscreen seems to work again. Good work, itix!

To get the speech working, you need to copy voice.vce file from sega cd version to your data dir.

Does anybody knows where to find the speech files from the Sega CD version?

BTW, I liked this game and I play it even now through this port. Excellent work, thanks. ;-)

Oh! I almost forgot. Does anyone knows how they chose that name (REminiscence?). I'm really curious :-P

You can always try googling for what you need:

    reminiscence voice.vce

All voices are in one file, that's called voice.vce

Also note that many things are NOT spoken, most notably videos. Becouse of that I thought that I still had done something wrong, as there was no voice in data cube sequence in the beginning (as that's the first "I assume this would have speech, let's try it" spot in the game)
