I know that lots of people asks about lots, but those which can code should be given all the credits etc.

Well, a Dreamcast emulator for MorphOS would be so cool! There are over 400 games for the console which have got really highscores on IGN and other gaming sites and magazines worldwide.

The Dreamcast games also have multiplayer options etc.

Would someone tell if such emulator would be difficult to make?

The Dreamcast scene is still kicking and alive!:

    What is OpenBOR?

OpenBOR is an open source project based on the Beats of Rage engine released by Senile Team. This engine can be used to create side scrolling "beat-em-up" games such as those found in the mid 80's to early 90's (Golden Axe, Final Fight, etc) This engine is designed to enhance the already very powerful features available in Beats of Rage.

OpenBOR has also been ported to the Dreamcast, Windows, XBOX, and is also being ported to the GP2X. Anyone else with knowledge on how to port it to other systems, please contact webmaster@openbor.net

There is a windows dreamcast emulator that works pretty good now. =P
Dunno how it would run on a 1ghz g4 though ...
It ran ok on my 2.5ghz athlon xp at least.

the pegasos is not powerful enough to emulate Dreamcast. Not even with the new 1,7Ghz CPU modules if they come out. With loosy radeon cards supported by the Pegasos, we'll never get enough power for it.

    *sigh*
When I started the last thread about Emulation here on MZ (which unfortunatelly got lost with MZ latest Database crash :( ) I asked people to stay reasonable.
As allready stated, a Dreamcast Emulator is out of Question. Even a N64 Emulator is currently not possible.

I like to have several Emulators too (but won`t repost it for now, If someone was interested last time, I am sure it was allready noticed), but it makes abolutley no sense to ask for impossible things. And you could even have found that out yourself.

Well, there is a Nintendo 64 emulator for AmigaPPC called TrueReality. There is also FPSE for AmigaOS4.

I am sure that MorphOS would have less problems than other operating systems to run Dreamcast emulation at decent speeds.

The pegasos hardware won't allow any DC emulator/game to be fast enough whatever OS you're using.

where have you been sleeping during all these years Henes ;-) ?

    the X1900 is out :-)
but even an old radeon 9600/9800 would be much better.

You were talking about Dreamcast emulation.
How could a 8500 not be able to reproduce a simple PowerVR ?

Hell, I even saw some crappy laptop chip running emulated Ikaruga at 60FPS.

just because we're talking about emulation, not native games. The 8500 is still a good card, i got one in my old powermac G4 and it does its job perfectly, but check the specs for running a DC game on a PC at a reasonable framerate.

In order to be able to use Chankast your PC must meet the following requirements:

Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon XP or any other processor that supports SSE (2 Ghz or faster recommended)
ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce video card (or any other card that supports hardware T&L)
    DirectX 9b
Windows XP, 2003 or 2K (other Windows versions will not work)

So, a simple Radeon 7500 would work and...?
We are so off topic :)

i think all is possible but whith time, so many time to optimize processor emulation, but the gfx card is greatly emultated by the radeon of course.
As i know the was an emulator called mysnes whitch is in assmebly 68k and it was amasing in comparaison to snes9x for exemple (on a 68k)

    acepeg:

mysnes was amazlingly uncomplete indeed. It's "easy" to code a fast emu if you only support 5% of the hardware, making assumptions everywhere. but then, it's no surprise that there isn't a single game running.

snes9x over the years has become more and more complete regarding accuracy. It's the same about mame. Unfortunately, accuracy doesn't always mix well with speed. :)

FPSE was a very good project (Free PlayStation Emulator), but I don't know why it stopped !! :-(

I just bet its possible. If a Dreamcast at 200MHz can emulate Playstation 1 thru Bleemcast and emulate Nintendo64. Then PegasosII would have no problem.

I just wish that I started with programming when I was smaller. Now its really hard for me to learn it by hand. I really would need so much more motivation for starting.

I think that a Dreamcast emulator is possible. But then there`s the interest also.

It would be more interesting if there was a project to develop an official SEGA games system, perhaps based around a pegasos or efika.

If the speculation about online access to all of nintendo's classic games is true, then certainly a system based around pegasos or efika designed to play a range of SEGA's classic games, ranging from the 8bits to the Dreamcast would be similar.

As you know, SEGA merged with pachinko machine giant Sammy a few years ago. So maybe there is some opportunity there.
