I use a PS2's joypad via an USB adaptator. It's a SmartJoy and I found it on Liksang. It has 10 buttons, perfect for SNes9X or Mame.

You can find it in a supermarket, if you have some chance.

Watch out when buying PS2 adapters, as not every model is compatible...

For gameport pads, I don't know if more than 4 buttons are supported (Which I think is the "standard maximum", but there were some ways of adding more)

Also the X-arcade stick seems to work quite nicely.

I use the Logitech Wingman Precision USB-Joypad,
it has 6 Buttons and works great with all Games that support Joypads.

If you use Poseidon 2.2, you need to activate the "analog".
If you are on Poseidon 3.2, take a look in Poseidon prefs, the answer is near here ;) (look my config' : http://batteman.free.fr/amiga/hid3.2.png ).

PS : It's BatteMan and not Battleman.

Would really be nice if you could share your hid.class?
Since i can't get mine to work, when i choose "Analog" it says not supported yet. or something??? :-?

Now the "Digital" works, but the "Analog" does not.. :-x
    Why?

XzIt : I use Poseidon 3.2 here. The Smartjoy works with the hid.class 2.2 of Poseidon 2.2, but you need to activate the "analog" button of your PS2 pad to use the the pad (with the four direction, not the mushroom).

Analog only works with Poseidon 3.2.
