Guys, for fuck's sake, does GenPlus support PAL roms/games under the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis option?

I have read every damn tutorial, readme file, forum post and downloaded every version of Genesis_OS_rom.bin, on the net but I can't figure this out. Is there any configuration option on GenPlus that remain hidden and I haven't tweaked?

I can play Japanese and North American versions of the same games but when I try ANY European version I get the following message "This game has been developed to run on PAL and French Secam systems".

PAL is disabled on current version. Should be fixed next release.

LOL, hey playing Amiga ports to Mega Drive, under PAL as we used to do like kids has a different .. psychological factor!:P

Thanks for your confirmation on this one. BTW, from my tests so far GenPlus lookslike by far the best emulator for MorphOS.

Actually, I always thought that for the most part, PAL systems were superior to NTSC. Two of my Amigas are PAL, and I converted two of my Atari 8-bits to PAL as well. :)

Usually NTSC is considered better for the following reasons:

1)Since the screen refresh rate and aspect ratio are different, if doing "lazy" ports, the games end up running at wrong speed. Also the graphics might look liddle odd, as the screen height is different. Since most games are made originally in the US or Japan (which both use NTSC frequency), people prefer games (and consoles) from those regions.

2)As mentioned before, PAL usually comes after Japan and the US. If it comes at all. Many games never make it this far. There might be various issues, f.ex. I know of one PSP game that did never get PAL release, simply because Sony demands it would have to be (in addition to already done english) translated to at least german, french and spanish. At least nowadays many console games are region free, and can be easily ordered online. It definitely wasn't like that in the 80's and 90's.

Also, you might think this "lazy ports" issue would be only for older 2D games, but even more recent games (at least Devil May Cry 1 on PS2 comes to my mind) still have the exactly same problem. Luckily there are finally no "regional differences" on modern displays :-P
