Duke Nukem 3D atomic edition quick & dirty install guide:
Download Duke Nukem MorphOS conversion here
http://morphos-files.net/find.php?find=dukeand extract as you like. Keep in mind that if you add files and high res graphic you will need almost 800 MB of disk space.
This conversion is playable but limited as it has shareware version inside. So if you double click icon it should start though you can play only the first episode (L.A. Meltdown). From the cd you have to copy those files/directories inside the previous directory:
- Maps (dir)
- Mod (dir, not strictly necessary)
- Commit.exe (overwrite existing file)
- DUKE3D.EXE (overwrite existing file)
- DUKE3D.GRP (overwrite existing file)
- DN3DHELP.EXE
Now you have a full Duke Nukem game to play.
If you want some more, here you can download high res graphic:
http://hrp.duke4.net/about.phpIn the download section get the file "Duke3D HRP v5.2 ZIPFILE (677 MB)", extract or open archive and copy all files and directories in Duke directory. Now you have a complete high res game. Inside the download section there are also music packs, xxx (fully naked models pack
) and more.
With high res graphics game is fully playable on my MDD 1.25 G4 Radeon 9250 128 MB though there are same brief slowdowns inside game and random graphic parts disappears (some textures are not shown during a play, showed if you exit and play again). This issue hasn't happened playng on a G5 with a Radeon 9650 256 MB even though some slodowns still occours.
When you start game you will notice a shell window showing some fonts/graphics dirs error but elements are all inside directories and game run without problems so I can't tell why those messages are prompted.
