Anyone managed to get Metaview to run and process any vector or other type of supported clipart files using MorphOS?

I tried to run it, but just got an error message stating that I had insufficient memory available, even though I have 1GB in my MacMini, which is a lot more than I ever had in my A1200 PPC Blizzard even with the Elbox Mediator Radeon-FastRAM 'hack' which allowed me to have about 512MB on my A1200 + 2MB ChipRAM.

Metaview was a great converter for some obscure clipart files, as in Wordworth that used CGM files for its scalable clipart, so it will be a shame if it won't work/run under MorphOS, though I haven't tried E-UAE or any other emulators to try it in as yet, but anyone else tried that method successfully?

Never heard of this program but "insufficient memory" could mean it just could not open some specific resource. Checking it with Snoopium could be worth a try.

I'll try that (Snoopium) but it probably won't solve my problem, just tell me what isn't loading correctly, but thanks anyway.

What it isnt loading correctly might be the problem and possibly solved. Programs are not always accurate with their error messages and out of memory can mean anything.

Metaview was released as Freeware in 2003, but eventually along with the source-code, by Henk Jonas, I seem to remember via Aminet, earlier this year, which is mainly in 'E' language rather than 'C'. It can be downloaded off Aminet for personal use, but requires a licence to use it commercially.

    The link is here: http://aminet.net/package/gfx/conv/MetaView_full

Hi, you need to copy the #?.driver files from AMF/AMF_Export_E/ directory to sys:libs/AMF/!

I tell you what ............ that Thomas Igracki has got his mind in gear ....... not like me. :-( :-D

Thanks Thomas for the advice, a simple thing of copying what I should have copied in the first place to the correct drawers now has the program running as it should, many thanks.

    EDIT

I should also add that after I had installed the datatypes that were included with Metaview (68k) into the System:Devs/Datatypes drawer (NOT MOSSYS:Devs/Datatypes) as well as the ones in System:Classes/Datatypes to complete the copying of files from the directories suplied by the original author that MorphOS would not start.

It just hung before the Boot-screen image.

So, I had to use the installation CD to boot my MorphOS machine to then remove those files as they were obviously interferring with how MorphOS works. I did not establish which ones were to blame or identified any specific one that was causing the issue, but if someone else want to do that they are welcome to work it out which datatype/file is causing this issue. However, I would just advise you not to copy those files as Metaview works without them.
