It wouldn't surprise me if a SAM460 port will be available in quite the near future. BUT, since MOS Team doesn't like to promise this and that because sometimes things seems to work but in the end doesn't, it's a bad idea to make assumptions on anything that isn't spilled out: "Yes, this will be available".

True, which is why I would not recommend this platform.
It is not ready, until its ready.

And even then, a G5 would slap it silly (actually so would a G4, even an iBook).

Applied Micro Socs make everything else look really powerful.
Even the dated PegII is a powerhouse when compared to a SAM460.

If he does this, he could have better kept his X1000 for sale instead of exchanging it for the Sam460 ;-)

I think the winner of that fixture is not so clear (unless it comes to AltiVec code of course):

Glad you mentioned that, I didn't feel like drawing Mark into the discussion, but he's got a SAM460 too.
Frank and Mark have several neat things they are working on.
I'm sure I'm not aware of half of them.

The SAM460 doesn't really do much for me, but the R500 driver that will accompany it...

Just to repeat what everyone else have said so far:

    # The SAM460 port is not official, and it doesn't have a date for when it will be released. It's more a "proof of concept", just like the iMac G5 port: just to see if it's possible.

Just my humble opinions. Welcome to MorphOS!

I ll take patience, as I am well versed there by past camp.

Its not software or hadrware that drives old geek mad, but people
that missbehave, like Steven playing madness *here Kronos was nice replacement
even they are knowledgable to a humble social scientist.

I knew there will be no X1000 MOS so I switched with DJ Nick just because of AROS+<PS and there will be some DJ Nick style vidz on MOS once SAM460ex version is done.

I would not call it PROOF OF CONCENPT. As far as I read, its funded by Acube, its presented in beta and alpha states, and done by MOS team, so its quite official.

Again thinking for me, its difficult to EXPORT and IMPORT from/to Serbia, you don`t live my reality ... This was easy and good solution and yes DJ Nick will return X1000 if MOS ever comes for it :-)

A pity the 1.4 GHz cpu card for the PegII is not more common (or that virtually no technical details exist on the PegII cpu card).

Since those tests point out a level of parity for the SAM460, I withdraw my reservations on the use of that system.

Well SAM460 isn`t that bad CPU it is kind of AMCC440 on muscles, but with DDR2, SATA and PCI-E it makes a decent envirovment to work with compared to faster CPU, DDRAM, IDE and PCI.

This may be, but how is export/import difficulty any different between Sam460 and X1000?

I stand corrected it was supposed to, because that was MOS team argument when I earliear asked here will there be a port for SAMs or X1000 (PAY AND YOU SHALL HAVE ONE) but obviously Acube offered it, when understandingly, then MOS would be free since SAM users already pay OS4 and additional OS would be quite unattractive or would be a choice OR OR which Aucbe doesn`t want as OS4 partner.

But I asumne they do donate to it somehow.

They (or at least most of them) have "MorphOS Developer" written below their name.

Yes, as far as I know, Acube didn't provide Mark or Frank the motherboards (I could be wrong - it wouldn't be a first).
And they are not financing the port.

Has anyone done that since Genesi?

Oh, that would come as a surprise to me. I assumed that ACube provided the boards.

    > Has anyone done that since Genesi?

Genesi hardware was followed by old PPC Macs, which are the most recently supported machines. It's obvious nobody financed the ports to those.

Entirely possible, I never thought to ask directly.

In fact, I try not to delve into things that don't concern me as I try to respect the privacy of our developers.

    And what I don't know I can't accidentally divulge.

Please let me know of any development. Thanks for MacMini offer, but I do have 3 computers at this time at home and can`t accept more.

Also, I was turned down on donation and threatened of some special disclaimer I can`t use your software *which cannot really prevent me and looks childish and silly ...

Things Rastas and Serbs are used to.

Anyway thanks to anyone that offered help and knowledge, and rest has shown their inner evil, so I forgive them. Hope everyone has seen their hearts and minds.

So I ll take puppets advice and wait (and yes, he wanted to perma ban me for no reason, that is a THREAT, right?)

Vox, Rasta, Serbs, Russians? Who cares?
We're here to discuss an operating system, the hardware that runs it, and the software that runs under it.
Evil? Don't spend too much time looking for it, its never in short supply.

    Thanks for the info Andreas.

AmigaOne X500s running MorphOS, its been awhile since Amiga hardware ran a new version of MorphOS.
    Neat.

It lacks Xena/Xorro, hence "500" without the "X".

    AmigaOne 500, got it.
It gives me a far too juvenile thrill be able to consider an Amiga again.
