How can I pay for boxed MOS and be able to be included in test of SAM460ex version? NOt a guru but would love it, free, under NDA

geit has clarified that the announced 2Q 2014 time frame is nothing more than a guess by Amedia Computer.

Addendum:
geit has revised his prior claim and now says that the announced 2Q 2014 time frame is based on estimates made by Frank "pega-1" Mariak and Mark "bigfoot" Olsen.

If it is being done to support hardware available as new, the whole exercise might be a colossal waste of time. Has anyone confirmed with Acube that there will be another production run of Sam460?

It is an under powered system, albeit available new.
Personally, I look forward to PCI-E G5 support.
A 2.0 GHz or higher G5 should readily spank an X1000, let alone a SAM460.

Just to repeat what everyone else have said so far:

# The SAM460 port is not official, and it doesn't have a date for when it will be released. It's more a "proof of concept", just like the iMac G5 port: just to see if it's possible. That doesn't mean it will happen since there are plenty of things against such a port (otherwise it would have been released years ago). This doesn't mean that there WONT be a port to the SAM, but it's the policy of the MOS Team to not make promises. This mean, in a nutshell, that until the day it's released (if ever) it is as good as non existent.

But it has been suggested repeatedly in the past that we refrain from purchasing hardware in anticipation of its support.

On the other hand, I wouldn't buy a SAM anyway. Too expensive and too weak. I think even the AOS 4 fans would think so too if they could use used Macs like we can.

Well, its a hard sell with G5s available.
Frank had the SAM460 port on the back burner for awhile, as other projects were concurrent.
But since he and Mark appear to like to juggle multiple simultaneous projects, I believe its moving forward.

It wouldn't surprise me if a SAM460 port will be available in quite the near future. BUT, since MOS Team doesn't like to promise this and that because sometimes things seems to work but in the end doesn't, it's a bad idea to make assumptions on anything that isn't spilled out: "Yes, this will be available".
