    Thanks Moto,
That's some seriously good work you did there.
I've found one card that looks really attractive that has one internal port and another eSATA port.
    I might go with that.
And I should be able to do the firmware flashing in a PC, so I can get that done.
Lets hope that 3.0 helps take care of the boot problem.

You've been a real asset. Thanks again.

I don't know, but MorphOS won't boot from IDE HD nor from CD if the card is installed in the computer (even without any devices connected to it)... OS shouldn't halt booting just because a pice of HW without driver is found in the system.... My guess is that there is some bug SIL3x1x kernel module or in my HW.

Please, do share your experience when you get your card installed.

Btw, just remembered that I was not able to flash the card im my MDD, just got some error message, but at work with my G5 flashing succeeded right away without any problems and the card was recognised in my MDD by OF.

    @ Motosampy & Kronos,

The only Sil3512 based PCI cards I can find are four drive controllers.
Aren't we limited to two drive controllers?

Edit - Sorry, I found two channel versions. If they can be modded with the firmware mentioned, these will be quite cheap. Great work Moto!

    Sonnet support 4/6:

"The TSATA board is built around the Firmtek 1S2 sata chipset."

So the TSATA won't work under MorphOS (when 3.0 is released).

Motosampy's post is more disturbing. It won't boot eh?
Could this be a problem related to the fact that the drivers are present, but don't function in a Mac?
And might this be fixed in 3.0?
I need to look into that card and I'm impressed with your modification. We've got some real hackers here.

Also, I understand your point Kronos. I don't currently have an OSX partition in my system either.
But to make use of the Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA X4 eSATA card I just bought, I'm going to need to install one (that controller isn't supported by MorphOS either)

I guess 3512 are easier to find, bought mine just a month ago (verkkokauppa.com in Finland - product details say 3112, but their card is 3512) and flashed with: http://www.wiebetech.com/webtech.php?sfid=133&pcode=TC-PCI
Boots fine to MacOS X but MorphOS does not boot if the card is installed (flashed with Mac bios or not... I just have a grey screen and can do ctrl-Amiga-Amiga reset from keyboard)

Well, it doesn't help if you plan to create a Dual/Tripleboot setup on a single SATA drive.

    My QS has the following:
-CF-adaptor with small card containing the boot.img and an emerceny system
    -el cheapo 3112 card (<10Euro))
    -RDB-partioned 500GB-SSD-Hybrid drive

Couldn't care less about booting from SATA as that would force me to put a Mac-partition-table on it (to what gain ? there is plenty space in the QS)

OK, I had to hunt for awhile, but I found a Silicon Image Sil3112 based 2 port SATA controler card that will boot in a Mac.
Its kind of rare, but they are available.
